Registration​

• SRYSA basketball registration is $50 per player (warm up shirt included in fee) 

• No late registrations will be allowed unless approved by the Commissioner.

• Do NOT register with SVAA, Sportsplex or any other basketball league until directed to do so by your coach. **These leagues have additional fees ranging from roughly $130-$160)** 

 

 

Division of Teams

​

Boys: 

• Kindergarten - 3rd Grade: Players will be evenly divided by skill level on teams by the head coaches in a snake draft format.

• 4th - 6th Grade: Each grade will have ONE top team based on skill level, designated as the "Blue Team." All players not on the Blue Team will be evenly divided by skill level on teams by the head coaches in a snake draft format. There will be no “B”, “C”, or “D” teams.

Girls: 

• Kindergarten - 3rd Grade: Players will be evenly divided by skill level on teams by the head coaches in a snake draft format.

• 4th - 6th Grade: Each grade will have ONE top team based on skill level, designated as the "Blue Team." All players not on the Blue Team will be evenly divided by skill level on teams by the head coaches in a snake draft format. There will be no “B”, “C”, or “D” teams.

• No player will be grandfathered onto a Blue Team from previous years.

• The number of players per team will vary by grade and gender and will depend on the number of players registered.

Player Evaluations

• All players will participate in a one-hour evaluation prior to the division of teams (unless there are only enough players for one team per grade). Players will be evaluated on common basketball skills such as dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, agility, and effort.

• Evaluators will include the previous year's head coaches or parents who have committed to be a head coach for this season as well as neutral evaluators (either SISD volunteers or parents who do not have kids in that particular evaluation pool).

• Evaluations are mandatory. Any player that does not attend the evaluation will not be allowed to play on the Blue Team unless approved by the Commissioner.

• Parents are not allowed in the gym during evaluations except for Kindergarten and 1st grade parents.

League

• All teams will play at SVAA except for the Blue Team.

• The head coach of the Blue Team will decide to play at SVAA, Sportsplex, or PSA. If the Blue Team plays in a league other than SVAA, the head coach will be responsible for team registration, payment, and uniforms.

Coaches

• Head Coach - Email the Commissioner if you would like to be a head coach.

• Assistant Coach - No assistant coaches will be predetermined. Assistant coaches will be recruited from each team after the teams are divided.

Registration Refunds

• SRYSA will issue a full refund if a player registers and the team does not make.

• SRYSA will issue a refund less a processing fee if a player registers and changes their mind BEFORE player evaluations.

• SRYSA will not issue a refund if a player registers and changes their mind AFTER player evaluations.
